Fresh Lake Wylie Fishing Reports

Blue cat bite was strong — 31 and 29 pound blues with several smaller ones but a little deeper in the creeks as compared to past 2 trips. Also caught 2 flatheads with a channel cat. Bonus huge softshell turtle provided unexpected excitement

Water temp 51F. Catching fish suspended in 30 to 36 feet of water. Live minnows are bait of choice

Fishing was very good today with a full dozen blues msking it into the boat slong with 2 channel cats. Bait was cut shad. Water temp 51.6. Most productive depth was 15 to 22 feet. Some explosive strikes today.

Crappie were deep in the river channel before the last weather system brought lots of water and the resulting muddy inflows made the bite more difficult. The fish are biting well again in spite of stained water and can be had by deploying live bait on a two hook set up just above the line they are holding in the water. Water temp is 50 to 52 varying from shallow to deep. Blue catfish are biting well. Never really slowed. I’ve had more success targeting them in the afternoon when the shallower creek bite has been very productive.

It was cold and windy as Feb can get but we limited out on Wylie black crappie. Couple cats to boot. 4 hr Crappie/cats/perch trip
